Firehouse Salisbury Steak

You want to make this over the weekend. Believe me.

The fireman made this yesterday and it was some serious good beef.

The supper, not the fireman.

Wait... him too.

He cooked it in a deep cast iron pan with a gravy mix he made. He cooked it for 2-3 hours and the meat was fork tender.

The gravy is rich and flavorful.

He served it with boiled potatoes and boiled turnips and green beans. The girl had to mash her potatoes with her fork.

Have I mentioned that turnips are yummy?

The Recipe: (you may want to cut this down if you're not feeding a firehouse)
12 cubed steaks
2 cups beef broth
2 Tablespoons Dale's Seasoning (or soy sauce)
12-15 shakes of Worchestershire (or to taste)
1 packet of beefy onion soup mix
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Oven Directions: Mix the remaining ingredients in a deep oven-proof skillet, or 9x13 pan, or crockpot. Sear the steaks in a skillet, just to brown them. Add them into the gravy mixture. Seal this with a lid or tinfoil. Bake at 300 for 2-3 hours. The thinner the patties, the less cook time.
Crockpot Directions: Pour the everything except the steaks into the crockpot, mix together. Sear the steaks in a skillet (can be done the night before), just until each side is browned. Place into gravy mixture. Put your lid on and cook on low for 4-6 hours.

Have a fun, delicious weekend! I have a girl day on Saturday and am going shopping with the fireman on Sunday. I need some new shoes and on a flats kick. I'm trying to be better for my feet and still be fashionable.

Do you have any fun weekend plans? Sometimes a slow, lazy weekend is even more enjoyable!

I don't think you'll be disappointed. And it reheats wonderfully! Very rich and tender.
