Fireman Love

You should know that the fireman and I are officially an old married couple.

I bought him a coffee pot for Valentine's Day.

But in my defense, we have been oohing and aahing over it for the last couple of months, putting it off since our old one isn't completely dead.

It's a little sad, every time we went to Target, the fireman would check the coffee pot to see if it went on sale.

I think he was just *visiting* the coffee pot.

And in my that's-a-bad-valentine's-day-gift defense. It is red.

And it has a digital clock face. The fireman thinks this is super cool. What is it about guys and gadgets anyway?

So, we were going to go out to dinner and a movie last weekend or this next weekend, but decided to wait. We went out a couple of weeks ago anyway, but we were thinking about making another Chicago trip in the next month or so instead.

We have so much fun when we go to Chicago. We take the train and just walk and explore. Just the two of us. Visit restaurants and pubs. Shop a little. It's just us and it's very private. I love it!

The last time we went to Chicago, it was in March. We took the kids last summer and they loved it, too.

It's really great to have someone that I enjoy just running around with.

You know how I tell stories about the fireman and it makes him look like the most awesomest man, like ever?

This is gonna be one of those days.

Obviously.

This beef potroast was waiting for me when I got home from work the other day. There are no less than 4 hunks of beef. Yum.

The girl seriously COULD NOT wait. She loves roast.

He cooked this with beef broth, a few tablespoons of Dale's Seasoning, which is awesome, and a packet of onion soup mix.

All day.

He also had 2 small bags of baby carrots in there, which adds sweetness and a lot of flavor.

Yeah. That's about perfect.

After he took all the goods outa the dutch oven (cause you know, men cook in cast iron), he added a little cornstarch and water into the juices and cooked it until it bubbled. Awesome gravy.

He had mashed potatoes for the kiddos on the side.

The youngest boy mixed his food all up in a bowl, gravy, meat, carrots and mashed potatoes. The meat was so tender it mixed right on in.

I attempted to slice the meat against the grain without tearing it to shreds, it was difficult, but worth it.

I hope everyone has an awesome Valentine's Day!

I love you guys!

I think you did an awesome job of V-Day gift giving. A true gift is one that's given thoughfully and lovinging. And since the coffee pot was something he truly wanted it was a perfect gift.

Love isn't just hearts of candy and flowers. It's knowing the person you love enough to know what would bring him/her the most joy. :)

Look at me getting all gooey and gross with the love stuff. Blech. :-D

Anyway, that potroast looks delish. YUM.
